Orianna Webb -- Works
Xylem is a short, energetic piece that amplifies a microscopic world, creating perpetual motion punctuated by explosive bursts. It takes its name from the tissue made of long tubular open-ended cells that conduct minerals and water from the soil up to the various parts of plants. In the spring time, it carries particularly large amounts of nutrients to power the production of new leaves. I imagine a continual flow of materials, gaining energy until life erupts.
Xylem is dedicated with admiration and gratitude to my friends and benefactors, Susan Hulsman Bingham and Timothy Bingham.
