How Hillary Clinton is Swiftboating Bernie Sanders via Race

bernie
Here’s an interesting set of facts the news hasn’t picked up on: Recently, presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders was cornered at the Netroots Town Hall by a group of angry protesters who were frustrated that racial injustices weren’t being properly addressed by politicians- a valid enough complaint, except that Bernie has more legit credentials in the “fighting racism” department than anyone else running for office- which makes you wonder why he, of all people, was targeted.

The answer is becoming clear. Tia Oso is the woman who led the protest. She is the National Organizer for the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI.) Interestingly, BAJI is funded by the Marguerite Casey Foundation, which in 2012 gave BAJI a three-year, $225,000 grant for developing an organized network for the cause. Sounds great, until you notice that the foundation was led by Whitney Williams, who developed and designed this $600 million foundation. Who is Whitney Williams? Why, none other than Hillary Clinton’s Trips Director (and her Finance Co-Chair in her 2008 presidential run.)

In other words, the woman who led the “Black Lives Matter” protest gets her funding from a foundation directly tied to Hillary Clinton, who, curiously enough, did not attend Netroots. Now I don’t know if Tia Oso is a conscious strategist for Clinton, or if she’s merely a pawn being used as a virtual hit man, as it were, but either way, it’s dirty politics from the Hillary people, scared that Bernie is a legitimate threat to her sham of a campaign. It’s doubly dirty when you realize she’s taking advantage of a legitimate cause- fighting racism- and using it to play her nefarious politics… and even more enraging when it’s being done to the one presidential hopeful that actually has done his part in fighting racism, having marched with Martin Luther King in 1963. Who else has come close to that kind of activism? Definitely not HRC. To Hillary, Black Lives Matter Only When They Can Be Useful.

Oh, and one more thing- Tia Oso was convicted of embezzling thousands of dollars from the Arizona Citizens for the Arts non-profit in 2009 as their business manager. So… you figure it out.

OMG! Werner Herzog!

Welcome to my new comic series, WHAMERICA, destined to be as infrequent as a Jets win. First up, internet sensation Werner Herzog. What crazy thing will he do next?

Dig Here, said DANIEL AMOS

The greatest rock band in the world that you’ve never heard is most definitely Daniel Amos. Who? Exactly. They’ve been around since the 1970′s and have not yet lost their edge. In fact, their first album in 11 years, Dig Here Said the Angel, is yet another step forward in a continually-evolving career of a band that won’t settle down. Their music is everything pop music should be.
Given that, it’s with great excitement and honor that I

The greatest rock band in the world that you’ve never heard is most definitely Daniel Amos. Who? Exactly. They’ve been around since the 1970′s and have not yet lost their edge. In fact, their first album in 11 years, Dig Here Said the Angel, is yet another step forward in a continually-evolving career of a band that won’t settle down. Their music is everything pop music should be- accessible but challenging, creative, brilliant.

Given that, it was with great excitement and honor that I designed the cover for this new album. That’s not quite true- the final album cover is actually a collage of several contributors, but the band liked my contribution enough to make it the main image. Here is the original artwork:

and here is the final cover:

Of course, to appreciate the entire beautiful album package designed by Tom Gulotta, you should order a copy for yourself. Not to mention, the music is freaking amazing.

Live Video Mixing + Improvised Classical Music = ?

This Saturday, April 20, Shapeshifter Lab in Brooklyn will host an evening of cutting-edge new (modern classical) music curated by amazing guitarist and good pal Dan Lippel. I will be collaborating with the ensemble by providing live video mixing, giving a new twist to the classic John Adams composition American Standard. Improvised classical music? You bet!

American MEAT!

A few years ago, I co-wrote, co-produced and edited a documentary (along with director Graham Merriwether) called American Meat. After touring with the film for a year, hitting up farm communities and agricultural schools all over the nation, the film is finally in theaters this spring, starting in New York City! Check it out if you live here, or keep an eye out for a screening in your hood here!

Game of Thrones: A Clash of Kings in 3 Minutes

That’s right, the entire George R. R. Martin’s 1000-page “A Clash of Kings” novel condensed into a 3 minute rap featuring hip hop enigma DIDACTIC and animated by filmmaker Memo Salazar. What more can you ask for? If you love the book, you’ll love the video. If you hate the book, you’ll love the video’s brevity. If you’ve never read the book, you can pretend you have after watching this video (which serves as a Season 2 recap as well, sort of.)

And hey, memorize the song by downloading a copy here!

PALEFACE’s “One Big Party”

Here’s my second video for the great PALEFACE. Thanks to effects whiz Derek Breuer, I think this one’s a few notches better. Enjoy:

What’s Up, Barack Obama?

Politics are a touchy subject, I know, but sometimes you have to go there. I went there, to New York City specifically, and asked a bunch of random people to write down one question they would ask Obama if they could. Then, I took a portrait of them and their question. The result is this music video that combines that footage with an in-your-face political hip hop track written by Malcolm Greenberger, featuring DIDACTIC on the mic. Why? Because you actually have more than two options every four years.

You can download the track here!

Emmett Williams Album Cover!

Somehow, I forgot to mention I’ve been making album covers for some good people. You should do you part by purchasing them! Check out Emmett Williams’ They Understand Gravity and enjoy that beautiful album artwork while listening to some thoughtful tunes for your mind and soul.
